Blog cards were not on my radar for things to take to the Aussie Bloggers Conference in Sydney this weekend (OMG only a few days away!!) so when I read Tiff’s latest post I almost fell off my swivel chair.

What a good idea.

But I’m heading to Bunbury for two days for work and then I’m off to Sydney so when can I get blog cards made?!

Then I remembered a packet of business card printy thingys that I bought a hundred years ago.

Could I find them amongst all the bills and wine in my office/wine storage unit?

Of course I could.

But then…

What to write?

Do I just write my handle? Or my real name? Or both?

When did life get so complicated??

At least I have got some new boots to wear and I hear the weather will be cool.

I came home from work today, opened the door and was transported to the outer suburbs olfactorally speaking.

To the tip to be precise… which may or may not be in the outer suburbs… I haven’t been there… that’s what rates are for.

The kitchen bin REALLY needed emptying.

But not onto the floor which is what happened when Groover pulled the plastic bag out of the shiny stainless steel bin and trying to stop the small drips from a hole in said bag managed to tip it over the floor.

Then the house really started to reek.

A shame as we’d done quite a good job in cleaning the house over the weekend.

Apart, obviously, from actually emptying all the bins.

Back in 2008, this happened.

Munted door — Remember this back in 2008?

Now you might not remember it (so go to the link to refresh your memory), but our solution at the time was to board it up with a bit of plywood.

An unsightly solution to be sure.

It’s not as if we didn’t know the frames were rotten. In 2005 when we had the house repainted the painters had refused to waste good paint on clearly rotten wood.

We did nothing.

Then the door broke.

We moved our beer fridge to in front of the window for added security, and handy access to beer and wine. And it was handy.

Over the next two and three quarter years we said to eachother often: “We really must get that door fixed.” and “If we were ever to sell, we’d need to get that door fixed.”

We hardly ever go out the back so we really didn’t notice it too much – except from the other side when getting beer and wine.

This year though it was hot.

Damn hot.

And we spent a lot more time in the pool.

In particular, Groover spent time outside. (a rare event)

One day last week, while swimming, he looked up and noticed that the bit of plyboard that had been nailed in again a few times by now, had come off again.

This sculpture was tall… an oversized bright red boy. I liked this one. I would have liked to have seen it in a more prominent position.

This is the view from the end of the groin back at the beach, now sadly eroded. Usually the beach hangs around until winter… but it has been an unusual summer.

So it’s nine o’clock on a Saturday morning.

I feel runover.

Not from excessive partying… We went out to the new state theatre last night and a civilised affair it was too.

And even though yes, I did indulge in a mojito in the late afternoon with Ali… She of the sculpture, I stopped at one.

(In fact we walked out without paying… Realised on the train going to Northbridge… Rang and apologised… Because hey, the guy made a great cocktail and we want to go back again. Havana has become our regular. He was very nice about it btw.)

So, not feeling tired because of the cocktail…

I hate having my hair done when I look crap.

Hours of staring in the mirror looking at the bags under my eyes.

At least they serve decent coffee.

It is the western suburbs darling.

Sitting next to me is a rather dishy fellow. Whose conversation I eavesdrop on while I’m waiting for the dye to process.

Very cute.

Shame I’m not looking my best.

He has a lovely deep voice which is hard to hear over the hair dryers.

He makes eye contact with me as we listen to our cute blonde stylist chatting. Yes we share a stylist. He is getting his hair cut while my hair dye does it’s funky wild grey covering thing.
