It’s not that I don’t love you…
February 28, 2005
I’m heading off to Ennuin for a few days with Dad. He was going up to feed the cattle or something and as I was more or less free (sorry C) I thought I’d join him. I’ve filled my week up with stuff so who knows when I’ll get the chance and what is all this time off if I can’t do some different things.
It will be a bit like a retreat. It’s so empty and peaceful, I’m looking forward to doing some thinking and maybe even bring out the pastels, which have sat idle in their box since the course back in January.
I will also be sorting out my dress. I’ve decided to wear an outrageously colourful number that I bought way back in 1990 in Bunbury. It was also outrageously high at the front so with the help of Sally I’ve adjusted it. It still looks very boofy but at least you can’t see my underwear! I just need to add a few sparkles and shoulder straps.
My blood test results are back and they were so good the doctor offered to print them out so I could brag about them! The best cholesterol result she has seen in years, she said. 3.8 which is good apparently. So that’s nice isn’t it? Maybe I should get a tee-shirt printed…
I’ll leave you with a photo of my latest success. I planted this water lily about 3-4 years ago to balance the white one that I have had in our pond since we moved in 7 or so years ago. Finally it has flowered. I’m taking it as a good sign!

See you on Thursday night!
Feeling comfortable
February 26, 2005
Well at this time I’m feeling pretty comfortable about my prediction. Labor back with probably one less seat.
I’m feeling a bit sorry for Colin actually who I think is a genuine bloke - perhaps misguided - but genuine.
The election
February 24, 2005
I haven’t read or watched or listened to every word of the election coverage - I don’t have that much trouble falling asleep - but if you were to ask me from my ignorant position nestled in the heartland of the Liberal leadership, I would say Labor are going to get back in.
Yes I’m prepared to go that far.
And I reckon the referendum may well be yes-yes for the first time in history. Shame we aren’t also being asked about Daylight Saving… although it is beautiful walking early in the morning during summer.
Anyway my two bobs worth.
How hard can it be?
February 22, 2005
Plenty if you’re looking for a sexy ballroom/latin sparkly gown/dress which will make my bottom look small and my legs look thin. Lets face it - it ain’t going to happen. I would settle for looking… curvy.
In fact at the moment I would settle for anything vaguely sparkly.
I’ve searched the web. Nada in Perth.
I’ve searched ebay. Lots of fetish outfits and little girl’s communion dresses but nothing remotely useful.
How hard can it be? Isn’t the whole of Australia mad on dancing at the moment? There must be thousands of dresses all PERFECT for me languishing in the back of closets crying out for some attention.
C’mon Sara-Marie - what about one of your frocks!
Ah well on the bright side my inner geek has priced the painting of a miniature for my dungeons and dragons games… at least she’ll be dressed!
PS Thank you to my friends who have offered classy skirts from their wardrobes I will let you know but they might not be tacky enough… :)
Frock up
February 21, 2005
I need to get frocked. The costume for Mr Cha Cha is - as far as I can make out - eighties/ballroom glamour. The more outrageous the better. So I am putting the call out. Would you have a dress that is maybe suitable? Preferably not strapless - I don’t want to show my fabulous breasts to everyone - and not floor length so I can move.
Please let me know if you do!
Boys just have to wear a white shirt with black trousers and jacket and a black bowtie.
Enough said.
Late on Sunday
February 20, 2005
It’s late on Sunday… dead tired. Had a great rehearsal for Mr Cha Cha’s Ballroom - loads of fun if a bit sweaty! If you want to go along make sure you get to Forrest Place early on March 6 and sit tight for our five minutes of fame.
It’s Mambo!
Floating
February 19, 2005
Just been for a walk along the Cott Beach foreshore and saw the start of the Cottesloe to Rottnest Swim. There were thousands of people. Spectators, swimmers, paddlers, a flotilla of boats, lifesavers, officials, it was very impressive. Didn’t see anyone I knew.
It’s Saturday.
I’ve added a new blog to my faves list - Zinnia - she is a funeral celebrant and her blog is an interesting read…
Confessions
February 18, 2005
I ate a whole pizza last night. By myself. It was delicious. Chelsea Pizza’s Sausage Pizza is my favourite.
I drank three biggish glasses of red last night. By myself. They were ALL delicious.
I cannot work out why my website does not look like it’s supposed to. There is supposed to be a 100px wide banner down the left hand side in green which ties it all together. It is the background image of the body of the site and was working yesterday. Then yesterday afternoon it stopped working. I’m so frustrated.
I went back to Archetrek today to the Friday morning group. Katie has refined the model further and I think improved it. She had toyed with six areas on the map at one point and I hated that - I think at the time I mentioned that I found it confusing and it was but it is gone so I can let it go. I didn’t want to go today and resented having to “share” at the start of it and did so begrudgingly. Then another participant (I judged) did the same thing and boy did I react to that! I am sure this person is in the group to be a key reflector for me.
I think I will just have to dive in!
Maybe when I do the background image on this website will suddenly work! Could my computer be a reflection of my life?
Child is the on button, Heart is the internet connection, Body is the hardware, Mind is the software and Soul is the helpdesk! Okay lets analyse this. It is a problem between the software and the internet connection that is causing my background image not to appear… Heart and Mind. Too much thinking and not enough being? Maybe my background image works for you on your computer?
I need to have a walk!
OMG - I just tried fixing it again - and it works! Bloody hell. I guess that’s a pretty emphatic message from the universe!
White Trash?
February 17, 2005
It’s American but I still didn’t want to score high…
I, my friend, have class. I am so not white trash. . I am more than likely Democrat, and my place is neat, and there is a good chance I may never drink wine from a box.
My brother’s exhibition
February 17, 2005
What is the point of a blog if you can’t promote your own family’s stuff?
Mike is having an exhibition at the Freight Gallery in Fremantle (21 Beach Street).

The exhibition runs from 25 Feb - 13 March. His new works include portraits (possibly even the one he did of me but he isn’t saying yet whether”I’ve” made the cut) and landscapes as well as his more familiar abstracts.

The story behind the title of his exhibition - Shaky Vision - is quite an interesting one. Last year he started working with people who have disabilities and also with artists with mental health problems. He found that they approached their art quite differently. For example just expressing themselves rather than expecting a certain effect or look. We do tend to get bound by society’s and our own beliefs and through teaching these people, Michael reckons he learned to let go of some of that stuff.
One guy told Michael about his first experience of Schizophrenia describing it feeling like his head was on fire which inspired a piece called Walking on Air.
Mike has also managed to get sponsorship from Forrest Hill Vineyard which I will be looking out next time I go to the bottle shop!
Time for lunch I think - this life of leisure sure has its pressures… :)
