Wimbledon
June 30, 2007
The only thing I’ll say about Wimbledon is that it makes me happy that they enforce the “tennis players should wear white” rule.
It just looks right.
The only other thing I’ll say about Wimbledon is that my favourite sporting moment occurred there. Pat Rafter’s losing speech. What an example he was.
And now I will get my pipe and slippers and go find a rocking chair. Maybe schedule that blue rinse for Wednesday.
Doctor Who
June 28, 2007
Just watched the first episode of the new series of Doctor Who… The Runaway Bride starring Catherine Tate. Brilliant. In fact turns out it’s the last of the old series and Saturday’s is the first of the new…
I kind of wish Catherine was always in it but will give the new girl a try on Saturday.
Having been named after a former Doctor Who girl I kind of feel a connection.
Okay I wasn’t exactly named after her, more like a spooky coincidence… I just like to think I was… Even though if I’d been her I wouldn’t have been as sappy. And, hopefully, I would have had better dress sense.
And I’ve been watching Torchwood, which of course all of you picked up as an anagram of Doctor Who way before me…
Yeah, I quite like it. The accent’s cute. It’s on a bit late though.
Finally tonight my son learned another of life’s little lessons. Empty your pockets before putting clothes in the wash and your mobile phone won’t get washed. He’s a bit upset. :(
Colour Coding
June 27, 2007
So the poll asked you which colour described you best… here is what the colours mean (thanks to Chris for this… he’s a yellow)
Blue
Reacts unemotionally
Appreciates critical analysis, a good debate and efforts to spend time wisely
Yellow
Reacts by thinking about it
Appreciates initiative and imagination, newness and a ‘fun’ approach and minimal details
Green
Reacts cautiously
Appreciates very low risk, a written communication before, proof that homework has been done
Red
Reacts spontaneously
Appreciates the personal touch/sensitive to feelings, a harmonious approach and group discussion and consensus.
I actually think I’m an orange person but I ticked red. What were you?
But what if I said the word shit?
June 25, 2007
Found out my blog is G-rated due to the presence of the word “suck” mentioned once!
Teehee.
Thanks to James…
Howard’s Way
June 25, 2007
You know, I can’t make up my mind as to whether John Howard’s plan to *help* Aboriginal children is a good idea or not.
Something does need to be done. And I like the fact that we’re not just seeing another inquiry - we are seeing action. That makes me feel good.Â
But, in the back of my mind, I can see the Aboriginal Welfare Board, set up in 1940, and responsible for the Stolen Generation. I’m sure they thought they were doing the right thing… but the result? Well, we are living with the result.
Will the Prime Minister say *sorry* in 20 years time if this action leads to a similar problem?
Is it racist?
There is no doubt that it is a brilliant political move. Howard will be seen to be an active, decisive leader. Not afraid to tackle the hard issues. Rudd has no choice but to follow on behind and support him… and pick up the pieces if it goes pear-shaped.
This could be “Howard’s Miracle”.
So I’m in a quandry. What do you think?
My fabulous shoes
June 22, 2007
Aren’t they fabulous! My gorgeous new shoes to be worn for the first time tomorrow night.
For fashionistas out there - they are SASS by Sachi - and they feature satin, lace and beading from Italy as well as an embedded Swarovski crystall chain detail.

I didn’t realise that when I bought them. I just liked them. :) The heels are killer but hey - fashion is pain my friends. Although as it will be wet tomorrow night I will be wearing sandshoes to the event and will change into these when I get there. I don’t want the satin to get muddy. On the way home from the shops I got them out of their box and stroked them…
My precious…
What happened to lunchtime?
June 21, 2007
You remember lunchtime right? Where you might go off and do a bit of shopping or sit in the sun eating your sandwich or chat with colleagues righting the wrongs of the workplace, the world, the universe.
When did al fresco become al desko?
These days lunch has become a matter of grabbing a sandwich and eating it over the keyboard, crumbs dropping through the keys blocking ’s’ which is most inconvenient and now requires a definite push, the recalcitrant thing…
In the olden days we used to all make time to meet down in the canteen for lunch. We discussed problems at work and often they were solved. We threw around ideas and got to know our colleagues. These days more often than not you find out stuff about your colleagues MONTHS after they happen. One colleague of mine broke up with his girlfriend, spent six months apart and then got back together with her before I found out he’d broken up with her in the first place!
These days we seem to barely interact.Â
Yes I’m exaggerating (if I’ve told you a million times…) but it doesn’t seem as social as it used to be.
I say bring back lunchtime! Make it unacceptable to work at your desk! Encourage interaction at work!
Oh and if you’re going down to the cafe… could you bring me up a coffee? Ta love.
Gripe: Flash Websites
June 20, 2007
Oh please to the designers of fashion web pages out there… stop using Flash. I’m OVER it!
It takes an age to load your front page then when I go to the next, another age. Yes and I’m on broadband.
I really just can’t be bothered.
High heels
June 20, 2007
Have bought TOTALLY gorgeous highest of high heels which appear to be comfortable - for the two minutes I wore them in the shop anyway. Of course when I say bought. They are on layby as I don’t have a credit/debit card at the moment…
They are Sacha and I’d love to show them to you but they are still in-store. Sigh.
Suffice to say I am practically standing on tippy toes when wearing them and they are v. v. cute. :)
And you know it’s a good day when everything goes pear shaped at work and you’re still smiling! (well not everything, or really anything too bad, well there was one bit of really bad news…)
I didn’t even have to cook dinner - now that makes it a good day - Thanks P.
New shoes make all the difference… don’t they?
Another bad sign
June 19, 2007
Groover asked me last night to describe my dream job.
I could only tell him what it wouldn’t contain.
That’s not a good sign.
