Aftermath

Well as it turns out my ‘crucial’ second preference wasn’t even called into play. All that agonising for nothing.

I can’t remember what I was going to write about tonight but I figure that if I start typing it might come to me… it hasn’t yet.

Last night mc’d the Red Cross Ball. Couldn’t eat a thing – the table must’ve thought I was anorexic – apart from the obvious indicator that I’m not. We were sitting at the Governor’s table and he I must say is a lovely bloke. Absolutely charming… as I guess you’d expect. It was a good dance – the Greg Shultz Big Band was terrific. Food was a bit average though.

Just watched The 4400 part 1. Loving it – luckily dnd has been cancelled tomorrow night so I will be able to see part 2. And on the subject of tv – Hmmmm I think Hayley might be going tomorrow night – or Marty – but Dicko’s appeal might save him. He annoys me so I’m hoping he’s out.

What’s all this about NOT having 40th birthday parties. First Rory, now Abi. Folks it’s just NOT ON! For goodness sakes! Roll on 2006!

Still can’t think of the especially witty point I was going to make on my blog tonight – you’ll just have to live with the mundane. It will come to me no doubt while I’m tucked up in cotton corner.

Swinging in the Breeze

Firstly may I say that I live in possibly the safest of safe Liberal seats and so my vote either way is immaterial however I need to be able to live with my decision.

The dilemma facing me is this. On the one hand the status quo means just that for me… I don’t get any benefit from a returning Liberal government – despite their multi billion spending spree. I also don’t save my beloved Tassie forests.

On the other hand and while I think the Medicare Gold idea has some merit, if I vote Labor I am personally worse off. The Private Health policy will impact on me, the education policies are not going to help… And I don’t quite trust Labor to pull it off. For some strange reason my feeling is if the Liberals had come up with the Medicare Gold policy I would have more confidence it would work.

So do I go for personal benefit or greater good?

I mean obviously I will be voting Greens first (ease the middle class guilt) but they are never going to get in so my crucial second preference will come into play…

You would think after 6 weeks the decision would be easier.

Twinkle Toes

First of all let me introduce you to my latest footware – my knitted slippers – which I am wearing as I type, indeed I have hardly taken them off.

Now as a fashion statement I can hear you say that they are not as cool as my beloved Ugg Boots and you may be right but as the season changes these strike just the right balance of heat and warmth.

They were given to me by a listener at the Royal Show and tucked within was a little packet of chocolates and a card with some lovely words. I hope I was as appreciative to her then as I am now. I am in love with my slippers.

Today we went for a family jog – Groover, Dippity and I – which was a great start to the day. We had a hearty breakfast and scoured the home expo places for ideas for our summer house. Then Dipp and I watched Brother Bear together – including ALL the extras and it was lovely.

Sunny Sunday

So we’ve been to the show and it was great. Dippity was a darling and helped out valiantly at the ABC stand even participating in the cook-off (and she is still dark we lost). My feet HURT after a day at the show and I was looking forward to a lazy Sunday.

It was a beautiful day. After watching Insiders – essential election watching – Groover decided today was the day he was going to fly his newly built model plane and so Dippity and I decided we’d jog to the park in the spirit of fitness. This we accomplished without too much grief but alas the battery died just at the crucial moment but not after we’d launched it thank goodness.
So it was back home for a recharge. Second time lucky …or was it. You’ll have to read Groover’s Alley to find out.
After the plane expedition we needed some food so it was off to the Subi Hotel for a nosh up… that’s where the photos were taken.
We were then going to go to the Wildflower Festival but decided that we’d buy Dippity some new clothes… well she needed some that fitted. And it was a good excuse to clean out the cupboards. And wasn’t it a great Idol tonight? Casey and Anthony truly rocked and I’m tipping Daniel or Marty for the chop this week. For the first time I noticed Acid Marcia – does she have it in for Chanel or what?! Unbelievable.

Holidays

Can you believe it’s time for the holidays already! Well for the kids anyway – I’ll be on duty at the show for part of the week and depending on her behaviour so will Imogen… hear that Imogen? Also this week I’m on a mission to find a ballgown and buy a pair of sunnies – yes the tax cheque has come in!

Hugo – the lucky doer – is heading off to Ennuin with my folks for a few days and then is going walkabout with Dad in the outback. What a bond between grandchild and grandfather – my heart is full.

Meanwhile I have some plans for Miss Pigeon. Apart from being my fashion advisor re aforementioned ballgown, Miss Pidge is considering doing some cooking classes with Dougie who I have met through Archetrek. He is holding classes for post 6 year olds on Tuesday and Thursdays over the hols… Download a flyer »
