My brother’s exhibition

What is the point of a blog if you can’t promote your own family’s stuff?

Mike is having an exhibition at the Freight Gallery in Fremantle (21 Beach Street).

The exhibition runs from 25 Feb – 13 March. His new works include portraits (possibly even the one he did of me but he isn’t saying yet whether”I’ve” made the cut) and landscapes as well as his more familiar abstracts.

The story behind the title of his exhibition – Shaky Vision – is quite an interesting one. Last year he started working with people who have disabilities and also with artists with mental health problems. He found that they approached their art quite differently. For example just expressing themselves rather than expecting a certain effect or look. We do tend to get bound by society’s and our own beliefs and through teaching these people, Michael reckons he learned to let go of some of that stuff.
