Jumping to conclusions

Today at my Archetrek class I learned that the Detective – which I have in communication – jumps to conclusions without knowledge of all the facts.

Now when have I done that recently… hmmmm.

Must watch my dark Detective.

Of course I possibly was in the dark of my Hostess/Historian/Queen and could have been a bit judgemental as well… not to mention engaging my deepest fear.

Yes. Well some lessons to learn methinks.

I also learned that having the Politician in career does not mean running for office but instead about serving the community, of having a strong set of beliefs and values and being able to act to share them with the community which is EXACTLY what my plan for Afternoons was/is. I now own the Politician.

Over and over I am struck by the accuracy of my map and the insights it brings me.

I have found it so valuable to name the good and bad parts of my personality and to be able to try and live up to the light side of it is a challenge I relish. Recognising the shadow helps so much – even if it is only after the event – after I have become reactive. More and more I find I am less reactive to situations which is a blessing for me and I suspect the kids and Rory.

Apart from Monday that is… oh and yesterday when Imogen got on my wick… but apart from that… 🙂

Home Alone

I have mentioned before how lovely it is to have a day off mid-week. It might sound dead boring to you but here is my day off today.

Sleep in to gone 7.30am – bliss! Drag on jeans and ugg-boots and make kids lunches. Ask them to get their shoes on and check they have had breakfast – the debris would suggest that they have. Organise Imogen’s canteen money for Thursday (yes Hugo I owe you $2 – sigh). Drop kids off at school so they can walk part way and then drive around to make sure they head in the right direction – they do.

Do the supermarket shop – under strict budget as have overspent on Art in Bloom – unfortunately we were not sponsored – I hope the ABC appreciates the advertising. Go to fresh market to pick up a few veges. Stop off at drive through coffee place for a long black (then discover that I could have got a large one for the same price as a short – doh!). Come back home. Check emails.

Tidy house and put away groceries. Boring but satisfying.

Wash and comb hair – just in case any of Imogen’s scalp visitors made the journey to my head – they didn’t.

Make omelette with mushrooms for breakfast/lunch and have a cup of tea. Ahhhh lovely.

Have a look at blogger to try and work out how to do multiblogs on the front page. Fail to work it out and instead write a post. And this is my day. Nothing like a good potter I’ve always said. Good for the soul.

How’s your day been?

Coffee Break

I’m having a coffee break. (Okay James?)

And I’m in a bit of a funk. I just had a chat with my PD who wants to talk to me about the future of Saturday in with the view to look at some of our regulars and all the time she was talking I’m thinking – why would you need to talk to me about this if you were giving me the afternoon job – you would just change them when the new person started – so I’m thinking I haven’t got the job.

All the positive self talk before about red walls and blue walls and it’s not personal suddenly seems to be crap. It feels very personal. I feel like a bloody black wall! Talking to you is helping though. I think I put up an impressive application, followed up with probably the most detailed analysis of the afternoon show they were presented with and I will look forward listening to my ideas being implemented. Because they were good ideas.

Now I need to make a decision as to my next move. They are looking at making my online job a full-time gig which quite frankly I’m not interested in. Been there, done that. It doesn’t give me enough interaction with people. So training? Production? Watch this space.

In the meantime, we’ve had another nit outbreak which meant I spent most of yesterday combing Imogen’s hair. Got them all I reckon but we’ll be combing for the next couple of weeks until I’m absolutely sure. What a pain in the neck they are.

And I’ve picked up our flowery creation for Art in Bloom – they called in the midst of combing yesterday to tell me the flowers were wilting – well duh! They didn’t get the reaction they were hoping for ie that I would rush in to the gallery to replace them.

I went to the WA Symphony Orchestra concert on Saturday night. It was a beautiful concert with some easy (Strauss – Blue Danube) and difficult (some German guy from the 1930s) music to wash my ears with. Afterward we (Rory’s mum Mary and I) were invited to the corporate lounge to meet some of the orchestra which was lovely. This was all organised by Matthias Bamert, the chief conductor, who I interviewed in the morning and who insisted that I attend. We felt very special.

Although I did feel bad about leaving Melissa and Bevan’s barbie which apparently went on into the night – I thought it was going to be an early finish but apparently not! The company and wine as always fantastic.

Right my coffee is finished so I’m going to sign off… I will have a photo of the sad remains of our art in bloom flowers later…

Rory sells the car!

Rory casually mentions to me tonight that he’s sold his car. His R-32. The car he waited with anticipation for. His hotted up golf. Sigh.

We pick up the commodore on Monday.

At least his licence is safe.

What a week! Interview was on Wednesday. Think I got across that I was keen to do the job “I really want this job” and my vision for the program. Now its just a matter of waiting. Nothing else I can do.

Which is how I feel about Art In Bloom.

the natural side of our ball

Mike and I thought we were really organised… We’d soaked our ball, hung it for two days, put in the artificial flowers. On the Thursday morning we got up early – Mike was here at 6.30am – arranged the live flowers and were at the gallery at 8.30am.

Well what a comedy of errors!

The Unit Head whispered to the ED “Sir, shall we call him to your chamber and talk there.” viagra no prescription fast “Why?” roared the ED.

The ball was really heavy so while we were waiting we hung it on the handle of a blue sulo bin. The hanging guys arrive and we say we want our ball hung on four bits of line so that it hangs square. “Hmmm” says John the hanger, “Well the bin is going to make it a bit skewiff…” “Er no” we say “we don’t want to hang the bin!”

Only in an art gallery eh?

But once hung we realise that the ball is still dripping and worse it’s dripping rusty water and the water is staining our artificial flowers… nightmare!

Mike’s ready to give up but no I say – you stay here and pull the flowers out and I’ll get another ball.

Eventually the new ball is up and the mirror located in just the right spot so you can see the ball in the mirror because after all art is a mirror of life.

Afterwards we walked around the gallery and were amazed at the brilliance of our fellow exhibitors. What amazing talent we have in Perth.
