Why I hate generic brands

Have you noticed how many “home” brands there are in our major supermarkets these days? Not just the really cheap versions – the old “black and gold” labelled gear – but now a more premium range.

The Select brand from Woolies

In Coles for instance you get their Smart Buy cheap brand… then the You’ll Love Coles brand and a new Coles premium brand.

It’s the same in Woolworths… the cheap brand and the “Select” range.

They are usually substantially cheaper than the other brands.

It’s nasty.

It’s insidious.

And I know it’s mostly the same food.
It will surely prevent those greyandgrey.com levitra 10mg bad times you used to take your branded ED drug. How can it not be right? It’s hard cialis pills free to fathom climaxing so soon and missing the whole exercise that most men look forward to so expectantly. This kind of generic levitra uk visit over here is now available on the market and it has benefited many males who are suffering from the disease but who would not have the deep pockets or the type of HMO protection that may enable them to make their sexual life normal and happy. However, when this enzyme becomes hyperactive, it causes the issue of premature generic viagra in australia ejaculation.

You\'ll love Coles brand

I remember going to one of the dairy companies to see how they processed milk and seeing the cheddar cheese being chopped into smaller blocks and being wrapped in plastic with several different labels.

That’s right.

The same cheese – just different labels.

So I know it’s most likely the same food but – and this is my sticking point – I don’t like being manipulated by the big corporate supermarkets into squeezing out the smaller manufacturers. The other manufacturers. I just don’t like it.

I buy branded food on principal… my one-woman stand against the corporate giants who will one day ONLY sell “their” food – and then who will get to set the prices?

One guess.

Suck it up

Right that’s it! Cellobella had had enough. Fed up with an enormous Hoover, heavy, impractical and bloody useless she held her hand over the base of the vacuum. As she suspected it didn’t suck.

This beast of an appliance had been the bane of her life since Groover had proudly extracted it, shining, dark red and enormous from its box several years ago. I’m afraid she wasn’t very grateful for the expensive purchase.

What is that?

It’s a vacuum cleaner.

Why did you buy an upright vacuum cleaner? Did you not ask me what I wanted? Did I not clearly articulate that I wanted a light, quiet, pull along model?

Yes you did.

Did you not also consult with our cleaner (sadly no longer with the household because she couldn’t stand the bloody vacuum cleaner)?

Yes.

Did she not say she would prefer to use a light pull along cleaner which is better for her back.

Um.

?????

Choice said it was the best.

Well I’m not bloody using it.

Two years ago…

So maybe we could sell that wretched thing… where is that write up from Choice?

Um… I can’t find it?

Right. Well seeing as we are poor now and can’t afford a cleaner (particularly one who will bring her own vacuum) you will have to do the vacuuming!

Today… Groover leaves for Karratha. Cellobella decides to use the Hoover to clean the house. There is only so long one can go, crunching over the floor. It doesn’t suck.

Cellobella now owns a brand new Meile 5210. It is blue. It is small. It is light. It is quiet. It has a telescopic wand. It can lie down flat to get under chests of drawers. It sucks.

Next weekend, Groover can do the tidying and cleaning of surfaces, kitchen and bathrooms and Cellobella will be happy to take Milly out for a spin! 🙂

[Big Red now has been banished out the back]

And for the record, this is what Choice says about it: (it scored 2nd best of the range tested)

MIELE S5210
