My soul is a furnace of love;stoke it to the full

Title courtesy of the Bacio chocolate found on my pillow at the lodge we stayed at last weekend. A charming weekend with good friends and good wine. There are photos to prove it. 🙂

During the weekend, after a very wine soaked evening we went on a wine tour of the region. In a bus. With about 10 twenty-somethings. Sigh. I am getting old. Also was very hungover so it was lucky that the last stop had some jewellery for sale!

The lodge itself was deluxe. Lovely food, well appointed rooms, completely up to spec!

While we were away the coroner finally delivered his findings on Harry’s death. No surprises to those who went to the inquest. Mr Hope was scathing about CASA and it would seem rightly so. I’m just happy it’s over at last. Although it will never be over, not really.

Coming home after two alcohol free recovery days I suddenly found a burst of energy and got to sorting out the fishpond. However, recent research findings suggest that the medication can purchase cialis online be seen on all types like mild, moderate and severe erectile dysfunction. So I cleaned out the trough, and yesterday painted it (twice) with pondseal. Now I just need to await a week before filling it. I’m going for big stones this time for the base as the little ones are just a pain when it comes to cleaning.

I also divided up the hugely overgrown irises and now have several (tens) of little ones that will hopefully survive their rough treatment. My plan is to create a bog garden next to the fish pond and plant some of them out. Others will go to new homes. Projects for the summer.

Today I was doing such hard weights at the gym that my watch dug into my wrist veins and they are all lumpy red and bruised. Beauty is pain my friends, beauty is pain. Or at least fitness is. I am starting to feel fit and hopefully will one day be so.

I went to McDonalds tonight with the kids for a quick tea. Honestly why would you eat there? Despite the Salads Plus and Deli Choices I must say I was not inspired (although I saw an enormous young mum of about 20 order a salad). The whole place stank of stale oil. I had an orange juice.

Dippity and I wrote a Haiku tonight about surfing.

Maybe I’m scared of the surf

Photos soon… and happy birthday MIL!

Kicking back

Honestly there is just not that much to report on. We had a little party for Hugamuga’s birthday which went okay. Took them by bus to Freo and then Timezone then bussed back for cake. Then went to D’s party in the evening which was quite ragey. Even met a porn star and THAT doesn’t happen every day. Good looking chap he was too.

Oh I’ve discovered that I have a grove of plum trees growing in the front garden which the kids will be delighted with. We might have to learn how to make plum jam! They apparently (the trees that is) suckered from the rootstock of an ornamental plum. Hope the plums are nice.

Week two and we are surviving without a cleaner. It is much easier to keep the house clean now that most of the crap that we own is shoved into the guestroom. I guess the school holidays will be the test.

Hey if you’re in town and want to hear our choir….

Day 7

Observation: It is a lot easier to stay “on plan” when you don’t eat out. Yesterday I had lunch out with my MIL and the kids and had a salad – unfortunately drenched in dressing. I did take off the parmesan shavings (not mentioned on the menu) but ate the dressed salad. How bad can it be after all.

Except that I forgot to take the tablets. Anyway maybe that doesn’t matter, My friend Ant says she’s done the detox without the tablets, with the same effect so…

In the evening I went out to the golf club for a dinner dance. More fun with a partner these things as the music doesn’t really lend itself to a bunch of girls on the dancefloor. Not that we let that stop us! The food was amazing. And I’m counting scallops as fish, and also the barramundi as fish as it is actually fish. I skipped dessert, cheese course and all wine. And forgot the tablets again.

Unfortunately it was late – well not late for normal people but late for me – and I didn’t get to bed til 12.30am which, after getting up at 4, is too late. I slept in til 8.30am. foea.org cialis overnight delivery These all when work in a group of more than 4,500 men. A problem since I needed to be at work by then – still, I got in at 9 after organising the kids. No breakfast, no tablets again! In fact by the time I got to eat it was after 2pm so the detox is a bit skewiff at the moment.

Groover has been off fishing which has left me in juggle mode but the grandmas have really helped out A LOT, especially mum who had the kids on Friday night and Saturday night. THANK YOU! Right now Hugamuga is off at a party and Dippity is down the beach with a friend.

I know, it’s August! Crazy child wouldn’t take a wet suit either. They just don’t seem to feel the cold. When do we start feeling cold? I can’t ever remember not finding water cold. Swimming lessons were awful in all those unheated pools… not to mention those ones down the beach… brrrrrrr. Maybe my kids have inherited a polar bear gene from somewhere.

I should be out exercising as I missed gym yesterday but I’m just too tired. I know, I know, exercise will give me energy but I’m just not sure I can face it. Lovely weather though.

Photos… what do you do with them again?

It’s been so long since I updated my gallery, I can hardly remember what to do. But luckily it’s pretty straightforward and you should be able to find some photos from our time at Molloy Island there now.

Tonight My brother, Mum and Dad came over for dinner. M is heading over to Italy early and so it was a chance to catch up before he goes. The silly boy is having pizza with his mates tomorrow night – why would you have pizza before going to Italy – surely you should at least have Thai??!

Anyway tonight we had Indian because I didn’t have time to cook and afterwards I managed to convince them all to play a quick game of Hearts (also known as Black Bitch or Rickerty Kate). Hugamuga joined in as well and it was a real laugh. Poor M didn’t do so well. Dad won. I can see more cards happening on our holiday.
Last night we went to dinner at R&H’s place. A lovely dinner and very interesting to meet some new people. A lady from Broome, a potter, and a couple – neighbours of R&H who have just returned to Australia after 7 years in Texas. He’s in the oil game of course. What an interesting 7 years to have been in the States eh? Bill and Monica, the chats, 911, Iraq War, it just goes on and on. They were all very entertaining and it was fun to reminisce with H about that 1983 trip to the Kimberley – can you believe we took the risks we did?? I must write about them on here one day to remind myself that letting my kids walk down to the Deli is not so scary after all!
Only one more day at work to go for this session and I must say I’m looking forward to more time off! I have got so far behind with my life it seems. I can only seem to be able to concentrate on one thing at the moment. What happened to the woman who could juggle everything? Maybe I never did. Maybe the balls were always falling to the floor and I was just too busy to notice…

Stung

Just in case you were wondering… the Sting concert down at Leeuwin Estate was fantastic.

We drove straight there from Perth and arrived early – about 3.15 – the gates opened at five so we sat in the middle of a dusty windy paddock eating our picnic nibblies and talking. The time past quickly and soon the gates were open and it was a mad rush to the parking area – the coaches – lots of them – racing the cars it seemed. As soon as cars got stopped to be directed to park, people leapt out of the back seats and RAN for the entrance. We sent of Mandi and Mike while we were parked relatively closely to the gate.

We were in the first wave of people entering the amphitheatre and so found ourselves relatively close to the action and the $1000/head seats at the front.

It was lovely sitting their in the sunshine waiting for the concert to start – we caught up with other friends who had also made the trip down – and enjoyed a glass or two of wine and a few more nibblies. The amphitheatre is quite sheltered so the howling wind of the paddock was not in evidence.

The concert was great. Keep the class involved by purchase generic cialis unica-web.com having then identify inappropriate responses and asking them for suggestions on correct responses. They tried to sit everyone down but nobody including Sting was having any of that! Rory managed to get to the front – yes in the $1000 a seat area – and really had a great night. It seemed the VIP area was filled with a bunch of miners from Kalgoorlie and I guess balding middle aged men were the go… he wasn’t asked for his pass!

Afterward we stayed on for a while – there were A LOT of very drunk people in the loos – before driving back to Dunsborough. A great midweek interlude.

New Model

New model refers to the Archetrek work I’ve been doing. They have simplified their model and I went to a feedback session on Monday night to find out about it. I have to say I am still coming to terms with the changes and that involves some “letting go” but I think after that process the new model will be more flexible and more approachable for new people to get their heads around. We’ll see.

So it’s me

So here we are on Day two of our mini-Seachange. Well we’re still on holidays really. Still being paid by work. Still on the run-up the hill to Christmas.

Thankfully this year we have adopted the sensible position of not buying everyone a present. Just a lucky dip, a secret santa, and then one for immediate family and Mandy (our houseguest), Sandy (our soon to be leaving us cleaner) and L (my nephew). And I’ll also be sending something to my niece and nephew in the US when I get my act together.

That’s still eight presents but it’s a lot less than last year!

I have been so busy this year up to this point that I haven’t written a Christmas Letter or sent cards. I do love you all – I’m just a slack tart. And anyway what more could I write – you know all the intimate details of my life this year – and there are always the archives if you have forgotton – I’m sure you’ll have time to trawl through that! 🙂 Okay maybe not.

Next year we are going to be part of Mr Cha Cha’s Ballroom. We are very excited about it. Well that’s not quite true. I am very excited about it. Groover is humouring me. Mandy is still looking for a partner… (okay I’m just putting that out there I am NOT matchmaking…)

Also J and I are going to do a Painting with Pastels course – and again I am very excited about it and I suspect she is humouring me… We’re also doing a course with UWA Extension on Leonardo da Vinci which will be interesting given our big trip to Italy this year.

I’m also right into making jewellery – or I suspect I could be. I’ve been inspired by three friends. K in the UK (used to live down the street) who is a “proper” jeweller. She sent me some gorgeous earrings earlier this year which I wear constantly. Anna – who we visited yesterday – she is a well known Perth artist – she has just got about $1000 worth of beads from India and when we visited yesterday she was creating some fabulous brooches. She also gave Dippity a few beads to take home. Well we took them to A’s house – my Bali Belly Buddy – and she has been making jewellery this year inspired by these beads she found by an artist called Lily – and she helped Dipp turn them into earrings. They are gorgeous. She then made me a pair – divine! So I’m thinking… maybe I should have a go!

I think I might have a spare hour or two to devote to the craft…

So the summer stretches before me – a long glorious summer… I’m just hoping six months will be long enough!

Bloomin’Marvellous

Gee I had a great day today. Got up slowly – took the kids to school in my pyjamas – don’t worry I didn’t have to get out of the car – came home. Died my hair using that new colour experte stuff from Loreal because I’m worth it and they promised my salon success. Hmmmm. Took a long time to do. Tidied up. Faffed about. Eventually left the house to go looking for an interview outfit…

I was going for a conservative, hip look of a modern late-30- something woman. Something that showed I had some sense of fashion but something that wouldn’t frighten the over ’55s. I ended up paying far too much but I love the skirt and think I have achieved the look I’m after. Rory didn’t hate it which is a first.

Kick bad habits- Every one among us have some cheap cheap viagra bad habits that harm our health. It went so popular in 1998 that within few years, a whole new male sexual health industry bulk tadalafil has taken its shape. The more blood that sildenafil in canada gets there, the easier and harder your erections become. It is a very big blow to the confidence of many purchase levitra men once they begin to suspect that they might be suffering from erectile dysfunction.
However the faffing meant that I was late for my appointment with Mike to get the stuff we need for our Art in Bloom project.

What you (don’t) see in the picture above is the result of much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Mostly about the cost of it all but then once we’d got it home well let me start at the beginning.

What we have is a “wet ball” of that green stuff florists use to hold flowers where they want them. Filled with water it weighs about 10kg minimum. But we knew it would be heavy so we wrapped it in chicken wire and then stuck a coathanger through it. Well of course as soon as it got wet the coathanger almost came out! So then we wrapped three more coathangers worth of wire around it.

Then the fake flowers kept falling out despite the expensive spray on glue as recommended to us so we had to stick little bits of wire through them so they would stay on. But in the end I think it looks pretty good.

The painting we are trying to match is a very difficult and thoughtful work by Gordon Bennett, an Aboriginal painter from Queensland who is well known for his political messages. We think – I repeat think – that he’s trying to talk about new life and comparing natural life with artificially creating life.

So we call our work “Birthing the Sun (Son)”. The ball is supposed to represent the sun. Half is covered by artificial flowers – the other half with real flowers (gerberas and hothouse chrissies). Underneath is a round mirror – representing art reflecting life and life reflecting art. Should be head up arse enough for the Art Gallery don’t you think! Set up is Thursday morning. Cocktail party Thursday night. The Art In Bloom Exhibition runs from Friday to Sunday.

BTW: Thank you Abi who became Plan B on Monday… we love you Abi!
