This is something from the Myrtaceae family (Eucalypts, myrtles etc.) – it looks like a Kunzea with the foliage gone wrong! I strongly suspect this is the tip of a spray of Hypocalymma Robustum (Swan River Myrtle). Did the flowers/buds appear evenly all the way along each spray?
