The thunder cracked the sky causing the ground to shudder and the lightning was intense and frightening.

With the traffic a nightmare – Perth was in gridlock – I decided I would do more good if I went back to work to help out.
I got home about nine thirty.

Groover who was in Floreat at the time of the hailstorm had parked undercover and his car was spared the very large hail that fell there.
This morning the sky was blue with a few Simpson like clouds scudding across the sky.
The air felt fresh and washed.
But it soon became hot and humid.
We expected more storms today but they didn’t seem to happen, well not near me.
It made for a beautiful sunset.
Lovely photos. Saw the pics on watoday – amazing stuff. I remember the 1994 storm – a tree in my back garden died that day! Sort of miss the dramatic summer storms from Australia… here we just get volcanoes erupting….
Was so worried here in Ballarat… got my first up-date on Facebook and was fretting until I could get a mate to go and check our house for us the next day.
Thankfully all was good – not like so many other though.
Having said that – replacing our roof via insurance – would have been a blessing in disguise! I would have got down on my knees and thanked the storm gods for that personally…

Was hearing of how much damage was done in down-town Melbourne the other day – at the Koori Cultural Centre in town. So much hail damage done in Melbourne (what was that – three weeks ago?) and not a sign of it whilst we were there… pretty quick fix-up about town it would seem.
Wow… what a way to be reminded of how puny we are in comparison to mother nature eh?

Nature is a beautiful and scary beast.
We had a similar storm a few weeks back, lasted a few minutes but tore a hole in our roof and knocked down the aerial and flooded our central heating system. Water was knee deep!
