Tweet tweet tweet

I have broken through the twitter barrier.

It has taken me some time to jump on the twitter bandwagon and I’m not sure why.

It was work that did it.

We were playing with twitter today, working out how to use it, encouraging our team to have a go and I thought… well maybe I should try it.

So I did.

It’s really quite addictive as twitterers out there will know.

I think maybe because it is SO easy.

I think the important things I’ve learned so far are:

  • Change your background ASAP so you look like a real person
  • Follow people who follow you
  • Reply to others by putting an @ symbol before their username
  • Enjoy the ride because it is one!

The questions I have for bloggers though – does Twitter improve your page accesses or not?

And do you find that you have less time for blogging if you are active on Twitter?

  1. Professional bloggers are heavily into social networking sites like twitter because they believe it sends traffic to their blogs. I might give it a try with my other ‘topic’ blog.

  2. Twitter is great, glad to see you on there.

The answers to your two questions are Yes and Yes. 🙂

Post links to your new posts, don’t make all your tweets about links (as if you would) and people will drop by.

This is micro blogging – a trend that will grow and grow.

  3. I like to keep my twitterings separate to my blog, as i’m not into generating extra interest over there … although my twitterings are able to be seen by all my *existing* readers.

I like twitter as a micro-blogger. No time to write that big post with the pretty pics ? Simply tweet a few words to let your readers know you’re alive ( hello mum ! ) and haven’t been killed by a random internet stalker 😉

  4. I don’t have that many followers, and also don’t follow that many people. If that were the case I could see how it would become a big time suck. I also don’t get much, if any, traffic from it but I don’t blog about my blog posts as a rule. That tends to annoy me because the people I follow in Twitter I generally subscribe to their blogs. I have just installed the Power Twitter add-on in Firefox which I will blog about. It’s awesome!

  5. I get to know some nice people through Twitter, and gain some readership as well. I would say only the first 2-3 days I’m totally Twitting, to check it out; Now is all about blogging all over again. Still on probation, so we’ll see. ^^
