The Kevin PM website

I don’t know how I feel about Kevin Rudd’s new website.

On the one hand –  he can maybe engage generation Y on their terms not his – possibly it’s a smart “voter” aquisition project.

On the other it feels a bit try-hard.  And… not very dignified for the Prime Minister.

It’s like when he goes on Rove.  He’s all so cool and groovy and yet when asked the question he knows he is going to be asked (because Rove asks it of everyone) “who would you turn gay for?” he wimps out (twice now) and says his wife.

Kevin if you want to be considered cool you have to commit!

Otherwise you just look like that geeky kid trying to get in with the cool crowd.

And that’s NOT a good look for a prime minister.

What do you think?

I liked the guys response when Rudd said his wife. What did he say? Something like “Your wife is a man?”

I’ll have to go check out the website.

Okay….seeing he website.

It reminds me a lot of Obama’s new website.

It’s the whole idea of keeping in touch with the people and being available to listen to them.

I like it. I think it’s sweet. A little idealistic maybe.

A LOT idealistic for my money… I guess that I have a lot of expectations from my experiences in the blogging world. I actually still expect that people who put themselves out in that (this) world, will have some sort of ‘relationship’ with you, and frankly – how many Kevin Rudd’s are there???

If he’s so busy keeping in touch with all his social media mates (and I know he isn’t going to be) who’d be running the country – the Shadow Men? lol ;-)

It’s a slick move, I’ll grant that. It makes him almost seem relatively accessable to a whole new bunch of potential political punters, but isn’t this just another way to collect data, and throw out some of that wonderful PM propaganda?

Hmmmm… that and the try hard factor just makes for a whole swag of extra silly bugger work in my book – but hey, maybe that’s why I’m not running a country – scary thought ;-)

I don’t know, maybe I’m being idealistic, but I like it. I’m not sure I would visit the site that often (but then I’m not the target audience if it’s aimed at Gen Y) but I just like the fact that he’s at least trying. And he’s not dismissing the interests and needs of young people as frivolous and trivial like a lot of older pollies do.

And I’m not a fan of Rove, so…

Oh god, I’m sorry but that’s written like it’s for Yr 5 and 6 primary school children. Mind you they are probably exactly who he should be listening to on education and climate.change.

And while I’m at it – could someone *please* volunteer to be his speechwriter. His speeches are so dull I’m losing interest.

I dunno if you can merge the words “cool” and “Rove” and “PM” .. I think they’re all mutually exclusive.

Gah !
