After reading Eats, Shoots and Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation, I’ve finally cleared my head about its and it’s. I don’t know why I found this so hard to sort out in my brain but there you are, along with definately/definitely, its/it’s has been the bane of my life.
But no more. Since I read the definitive explanation in her book I am totally cool with it. Basically if you can say it is/it has then put the apostrophe in, otherwise leave it out.
And I’m supposed to be good at English.
I love blogging. Okay I might be in the honeymoon phase but I find it so satisfying. And I love reading other people’s blogs. There is something about saying pithy little nothings publicly. No interruptions? No glazed look in the eyes of your listeners… that you can see.
I find it fascinating to discover what sort of stuff is rolling around in people’s brains. And in mine – in the way that sometimes you don’t know what you think about something until you speak (or in this case, type) it out.
